Kanbe's Markets is Hiring a Director of Philanthropy Near Kansas, MO

Development Coordinator

Summary of Position

The Development Coordinator will provide essential support to and be responsible for a wide range of development efforts at Kanbe’s Markets, with a primary focus on donor data management and grant/proposal writing. Responsibilities will include identifying opportunities for grant proposals and preparing grants for submission, maintaining the donor database, preparing donor reports and other donor stewardship materials and providing general support for the daily activities of the development team. The individual is someone who believes deeply in the mission of Kanbe’s and is excited to help develop successful donor partnerships that will allow Kanbe’s to rapidly scale its impact in Kansas City and beyond. This position reports to the Chief Development Officer.

Required Qualifications

3-5 years relevant work experience, with experience in grant writing/fundraising preferred.

Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to handle multiple workstreams, exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, preferably with direct experience in writing grant applications/donor proposals and reports.
  • Experience with database navigation and management to track grants applications, payments, reports and other donor stewardship matters.
  • Comfortable with Google Suite, Bloomerang, Asana or other constituent relationship management platform.
  • Outstanding judgment, discretion, and commitment to responsible donor stewardship.
  • Strong sense of flexibility, willing and able to change course as needed.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

Grants/Proposals Writing & Support

  • Research grant opportunities relevant to our size and mission.
  • Develop and submit grants tailored to each application.
  • Collect and submit all relevant data, statistics and information (programmatic and financial) for grant/proposal writing and reporting.
  • Track all grant deadlines and status of submitted and awarded grants in the grant database.
  • Support processing of grant awards: acknowledgements, execution of grant contracts, monitor payment schedules.
  • Update grant database with new, in-progress, submitted, and awarded grants.

Prospect and Donor Research, Engagement & Stewardship

  • Support in the execution of a robust donor engagement strategy to strengthen donor understanding and connection to Kanbe’s, including through growth of the Grassroots Growers program of monthly recurring donors.
  • Prepare briefings and collateral materials for meetings with donors and prospects.
  • Conduct research on new and existing donors, identifying motivations and barriers to providing support. Identify potential levers to deepen their connection to and support of our work.
  • Support the planning and execution of annual giving programs.
  • Ensure proper tracking of prospect and donor engagements in prospect/donor database (e.g. contacts, downloads from meetings, points of engagement).

Development Operations

  • Provide relevant development information to Kanbe’s leadership for strategy and budget decisions.
  • Provide project management support, including preparing agendas and tracking action items for internal development meetings.
  • Process gifts and send tax acknowledgements for all donors.
  • Manage volunteers as related to grant research, writing, submission, tracking, and reporting.
  • Support the execution of event logistics for fundraising and donor engagement events.
  • Other duties that may be assigned by manager.

Compensation- Discussed in offer letter or at the time of hire Benefits -Health insurance eligible immediately upon hire . Vacation - In addition to company holidays (see handbook), this position is eligible for 2 weeks paid vacation annually

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
